Inquire About AvailabilityAbout Me
I have had a private practice in Corvallis since 1977.
I worked as a psychiatric social worker at Acadiana Mental Health Center in Lafayette, Louisiana, where I led seminars on marriage, divorce, and parenting communication, and appeared on TV talk shows about family counseling. I was also a counselor and assistant professor at Oregon State University, teaching Career Decision Making. At Linfield College's off-campus programs, I taught Adolescent Psychology, and Psychology 110N, which focused on stress management and assertiveness. I also taught parent education classes at LBCC. I participated in a PBS TV talk show on teen pregnancy.
I led a workshop on step-parenting at OSU and was on the board of the Linn-Benton Alliance for school-aged parents. I was also a member of Plain Talk Theater, a sex abuse prevention group, where I performed in schools as an actor, narrator, grant writer, and director. I raised six stepchildren alongside my own two children.
My Philosophy
I use an integrative, holistic, client-centered approach. I see each person as unique and the best spokesperson for their own needs. People are influenced by their genes, family of origin, life experiences, traumas, injuries, health problems, their current relationships, and their environment.
I help people explore their current life and how and why it meets or doesn't meet their needs and expectations.
I work with teens and adults, both neurodivergent and neurotypical. I have ADHD and have been working with clients with ADHD for 35 years. Many of my clients are on the autism spectrum, and I have been working with LGBTQ+ clients for many years.
I help people build the confidence to be their authentic selves, often by confronting past traumas and improving communication skills. Many people struggle with societal expectations, and I help them trust themselves and stay regulated in stressful situations.

How I Work
I have a hybrid practice, with most of my work conducted via telehealth. In-person sessions are limited to people I know well, and spots do not open often.
